Mining & Cement Applications

The manufacture of cement includes mining and crushing of the raw material (limestone, clay, and sand), drying and grinding in a mill, burning in a rotary tube furnace and finally pulverization of the cement. ELTRA elemental analysers are used in all of these process steps.
ELTRA combustion analysers have played an important part in the quality control of the cement industry for over three decades as well as the determination of C, S and N, O, H in coal and geology applications. Several instruments have also been especially optimized for the analysis of ores, rocks, and coal.
Thermogravimetric Analyzer TGA Thermostep
- Elements: ash content, moisture , volatiles
- Samples: inorganic, organic, synthetic
- Analysis of up to 19 samples
- Fully automatic analysis
Thermogravimetry is a standard method to analyze organic, inorganic and synthetic
materials. Thermogravimetric analysis in general means the measurement of the weight
loss during a user-defined temperature or heating process.
ELTRA’s TGA Thermostep is a thermogravimetric analyzer which determines various
parameters such as moisture, volatiles and ash at user-defined temperatures and atmospheres
in a single analysis. The thermogravimetrics analyzer TGA Thermostep simultaneously analyzes
up to 19 samples with sample weights up to 5 g and can be operated at temperatures up to
1000 °C.
A special feature of the TGA Thermostep is the management of crucible
covers. The thermogravimetric analyzer can place and remove the covers of the crucibles
during analysis. This feature allows for example the precise determination of volatile
content in coal and coke.
CS‑580A Carbon / Sulfur Analyzer CS‑580A
- Elements: carbon, sulfur
- Samples: organic
- Autoloader: yes
ELTRA‘s CS-580A is the ideal analyzer for the simultaneous determination of carbon
and sulfur in organic samples.
ELTRA’s 580A analyzers (A = Autoloader) are equipped with an automatic sample
loader, allowing for analysis of large numbers of samples without operator intervention. The
sample loader is available in two versions to accommodate 36 or 130 crucibles. The CS-580A
is based on the technology of the CS-580 analyzer and features a vertical resistance furnace
with ceramic tube.
ELEMENTRAC CS‑r Carbon / Sulfur Analyzer
- Elements: carbon, sulfur
- Samples: organic
- Autoloader: no
For the safe, precise and reliable elemental analysis of carbon (C) and sulfur (S) in
predominantly organic matrices such as soils, waste, wood, oil, coal and coke, ELTRA
offers the combustion analyzer ELEMENTRAC CS-r with IR detection.
The CS-r with up to 4 infrared cells is designed for carbon and sulfur
measurement over a very wide concentration range. It uses a horizontal resistance furnace
with ceramic tube, which operates in a range from 600 °C to 1550 °C.
The CS-r
elemental analyzer meets or exceeds the requirements of all common ASTM, DIN, EN or ISO
standards for elemental analysis.
ELEMENTRAC CHS‑r Carbon / Hydrogen / Sulfur Analyzer
- Elements: carbon, hydrogen, sulfur
- Samples: organic
- Autoloader: no
For the safe, precise and reliable analysis of carbon (C), sulfur (S) and hydrogen (H)
in predominantly organic matrices such as soils, waste, wood, oil, coal and coke, ELTRA
offers the elemtal analyzers ELEMENTRAC CHS-r with IR detection.
The CHS-r with up to 3 infrared cells is designed for carbon, sulfur and
hydrogen measurement over a very wide concentration range. It uses a horizontal resistance
furnace with ceramic tube, which operates in a range from 600 °C to 1550 °C.
The
CHS-r combustion analyzer meets or exceeds the requirements of all common ASTM, DIN, EN or
ISO standards for elemental analysis.
